Advanced Injectables

  • Neuromodulators — Ages 20 and beyond for the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face — specifically the forehead, eyebrows, crow’s feet, and lip lines.

Dermal Fillers — All ages for the correction of volume loss, which typically begins in a client's late 20’s-early 30’s.

PRP — ideal for any client of any age

  • Aesthetic neuromodulator injectables work by relaxing muscles, therefore reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Neuromodulators are typically used in the face, but have many other applications including, but certainly not limited to: decreasing sweat production, reducing nocturnal teeth grinding, and treating certain types of headaches.

Dermal Fillers — are a combination of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found throughout the body; it attracts water, thus naturally plumping and hydrating the skin. Aesthetic injectable hyaluronic acid is a type of temporary dermal filler used to replace and restore lost volume all over the face and body. As we age, we lose bone, fat, and muscle mass, most noticeably in the face. The solution? Replacing this volume loss with dermal fillers to turn back the clock and restore the client’s natural appearance.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate healing and improve the integrity of the targeted tissues. PRP therapy has a seemingly endless list of uses, treating everything from hair restoration to joint rejuvenation, intimate rejuvenation (male & female), scar treatment, and skin rejuvenation (fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, and acne scarring). This is a very safe, all-natural solution that delivers incredible results.

  • It all started when Edward J. Schantz, who had been instrumental in botulinum toxin research during the war, went on to produce the toxin now known as Botox for use in scientific studies during the 1960s. Years later, in 1978, ophthalmologist Alan B Scott began FDA trials for the use of botulinum toxin to treat crossed eyes. The drug, which Scott called Oculinum, received its first FDA approval to treat crossed eyes and eye twitching in 1989. Allergan acquired Oculinum from Scott shortly afterwards, renaming it Botox. Discovery of the toxin’s cosmetic applications, however, was a happy accident. In 1987, Canadian eye doctor Jean Carruthers was using Botox to treat blepharospasm in a patient. The woman complained when Jean didn’t inject her forehead, claiming that the injections made her lines disappear. From there, the drug’s popularity continued to build until Botox was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2002, first to treat lines between the brows. The rest, as they say, is history.

Dermal fillers made their big debut in the 1970s, when various animal collagens — that had been researched and tested thoroughly — were approved for use on humans. Specifically, bovine collagen, or collagen derived from cows, was originally used as a filler. Bovine collagen and some human collagen fillers were both used up until the early 2000s, when the FDA approved the use of hyaluronic acid fillers, which ultimately changed the dermal filler game. Hyaluronic acid fillers last much longer than collagen fillers, which contributed to their instant fame and enduring success. The first hyaluronic acid filler introduced to the market was Restylane, made by Galderma. Allergan’s Juvederm quickly followed, and with it, millions of happy, more youthful-looking patients.

The concept of PRP therapy first took shape in the 1970s, when the term was coined to define blood that had a higher platelet count than normal blood. This platelet-rich blood was mainly used in blood transfusions for individuals who suffered from a low platelet count. Between the 1980s - 1990s, PRP was first used during surgical procedures since it has many properties that help with wound closure, inflammation reduction, and new cell growth enhancement. The most common procedures in which PRP therapy was instrumental at that time? Periodontal surgery, maxillofacial surgery, cosmetic surgery, and skin grafting. Since then, PRP therapy has been utilized in orthopedics to help with bone grafts and fractures, connective tissue repair, cardiac surgery, sports injuries, plastic surgery, gynecology, urology, and more. Research has also shown that PRP therapy can be effective at reducing scarring, so it is now employed to improve burn scars, post-surgery scars, and acne scarring. Today, PRP therapy is widely applied in a dynamic array of medical, cosmetic, and aesthetic practices, including many of the services offered right here at Cura!

Custom Facials

  • Anyone seeking a more youthful appearance.

  • It all starts with a consultation to determine what type of facial is best suited t the individual. All facials start with a good cleanse, then exfoliation treatment, mask, toner and moisturizer to protect skin

  • Dating back as early as the Elizabethan era in Europe, women went to extreme measures to attain beautiful and young-looking skin. Many early attempts at skincare weTe more harmful than good since there was little science behind it.

The growing desire for glowing skin continued to spur new and creative treatments.

Modern facial treatments have evolved a long way from the early days of poisonous serums and overnight torture devices.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

  • Hormone optimization is for anyone seeking an overall improved quality of life.

  • There are hormone receptors in every single cell of the human body. Symptoms of hormone Insufficiency include: depression, moodiness, anxiousness, irritabliity, insomnia, lack of focus, lack of drive, low libido, low stamoina, erectide dysfunction, inability to lose weight, weight gain, hot flashes, night sweats, and chronic pain.

  • Hormone pellets have been widely used around the world for over 50 years. They have gained popularity in the United States as the safest and most effective hormone replacement modality over the past decade.

Developed and studied in the 1930’s for women who had radical hysterectomies. Discussions for estrogen and testosterone pellets for symptoms of menopause began in the 1940’s.

Weightloss

  • GLP-1 medications are FDA approved for individuals over the age of 12 who meet safety guideline criteria.

  • Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are FDA approved GLP-1 medications most commonly used to treat diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and obesity. They work by improving glycemic response and lowering circulating blood sugar levels. The main benefits of this include: decrease in body fat, lower body weight, some appetite suppression, and some organ function improvement. If an individual can increase their activity level and make healthier food choices they will see dramatic results in a few short months.

  • The GLP-1 peptide was discovers in 1986. The first GLP-1 medication was approved for treatment of diabetes in 2005. With the FDA approval for medical weight-loss in 2021 we now have an affective long term treatment for obesity.

Wellness

  • Anyone and everyone benefits from wellness management. Cura Aesthetics offers the very best in wellness management to all clients seeking a healthy lifestyle!

  • Wellness injections are safe and effective wellness tools that aid in replenishment of vital nutrients and minerals your body needs to perform optimally.

Micronutrient deficiency has been on the rise in resent years. Researchers believe this may contribute to the increased occurrence of chronic diseases, inflammation, and decreased immunity.

Given today’s fast paced life style, over consumption of processed foods, exposure to chemicals, the traditional way of maintaining an optimal health such as eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly are harder to sustain and often not enough. Everyone can use a little help. IV Nutrient Therapy maybe a helping hand for those with certain conditions and need to bounce back quickly.

  • IV therapy was introduced around 1883 by Dr. Thomas Latta during an epidemic in Britain. The standard IV use of saline solutions did not begin until 1902. Intravenous therapy was further developed in the 1930s but was not widely available until the 1950s.

Traditionally, IV is given in the hospital setting. Today, more and more medical practitioners are incorporating IV treatments outside of hospital because the procedure has been proven to be safe and patients don’t want the high costs of hospital visits.

Q&A With Cura Aesthetics

  • Botox and Dysport are actually the same medication, both equally effective at reducing wrinkles. The only difference is in the dosage. Ultimately, a client will pay the same dollar amount to receive an equivalent treatment of Dysport as compared to Botox. For instance: $3.33 of Dysport is equal to $10 of botox. Or, 3 units of Dysport is equal to 1 unit of botox.

  • On average, results last approximately 4 months. You’ll feel the effects beginning to subside, which makes it easy to decide when it’s time for your next treatment.

  • Since aesthetics is an art form, every aesthetician is an artist with their own unique style. Filler can look fake if overdone, but at Cura, we strive to meet every client’s expectations while emphasizing and enhancing a client’s natural beauty above all.

  • While mild pain, bruising, and swelling may occur, it normally subsides within the first week of treatment.

  • Initial results from neuromodulators will be noticeable within 3-7 days after injection, with maximum results appearing by 2 weeks. Results from dermal fillers are immediate, and while there may be swelling and bruising for a few days, it will subside within approximately 1 week. Results from PRP treatments are seen 6-9 weeks after treatment. The Sculptra glow will appear around week 9-12, results continue to improve for up to 2 years. Wellness treatments are noticeable within hours of the treatment. Facial results are specific to the type of facial, results from immediately after treatment up to 2 weeks after.

  • While anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen and naproxen are discouraged after PRP treatments, in particular, acetaminophen is a viable option to minimize pain and discomfort. For all other Cura treatments, it’s perfectly acceptable to take any anti-inflammatory or pain-relieving medication, and cool compresses are also encouraged for 15-minute increments.

  • It’s always a good idea to protect your skin from the sun, but here’s what we recommend in terms of UV exposure before and after the treatments offered at Cura…

PRP treatments – Avoid the sun for 1 week before and after

  • Since neuromodulators can be very drying to the skin, a little extra moisturizer can go a long way post-treatment. For any swelling or bruising, we recommend using Arnica gel or tablets, a homeopathic remedy formulated for swelling and bruising associated with aesthetic treatments. They can be found over the counter at any pharmacy (Walgreens, CVS, HEB, Target, Walmart) in the section with the pain creams, gels, and patches.

  • We’ll arm you with the knowledge of what to expect from any of our treatments up front — often before yours is even officially on the books.
